Microchipping

Did you know? 1 in 3 pets will get lost from their owners during their lifetime. At Paradise Veterinary Hospital, we believe in giving every pet the best chance of being reunited with their family should the unthinkable occur. Microchipping your pet, whether young or old, indoor or outdoor, dog or cat, is always in the best interest of your animal, and your peace of mind.

A microchip is a permanent form of identification that lasts a lifetime, unlike collars or tags that can break off or become damaged and unreadable. Microchipping your pet is a safe and simple procedure that takes only seconds and can be done during your office visit, no anesthesia required. The microchip is roughly the size of a grain of rice and is placed under the skin between the shoulder blades, in a process similar to a routine vaccination. The microchip contains important information about your pet, including the owner’s name, address, and contact information, which is stored in a national pet recovery database.  Remember, once your pet is microchipped it is important to keep the contact information up to date.  A microchip is only as good as the information it contains.

Living in Southern California, the threat of wildfires, earthquakes, and other natural disasters makes it especially important to get your pet microchipped.
